COMPETENCY-BASED APPROACH AND COMPETENCIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION

Abstract

The competency-based approach has gained prominence in higher education as a means of preparing students for the workforce. Competencies are a set of knowledge, skills, and attitudes that enable individuals to perform tasks effectively. This article aims to explore the concept of competencies in higher education and the role of the competency-based approach in developing them. The study involved a review of the literature on competencies, competency-based education, and their impact on higher education. The results showed that the competency-based approach can enhance student learning outcomes and better prepare them for the workforce.
